Koy Kosek Resigns as Head Coach of UW-Milwaukee Wrestling Team
24 September, 2008
September 24, 2008 MANITOWOC – UW-Milwauke head coach Koy Kosek resigned from his position today.
“As far as why I stepped down, it was a combination of reasons. A lot of things are not as I expected them to be, and it was a bunch of things that slowly added up to a point where I found myself questioning whether or not it was worth it for me to continue on in this situation,” said Coach Kosek. “I asked myself three questions: Can I afford to do this financially? Is this the best thing I can do with this time and energy, for myself and others? And, do I owe it to anybody to continue on in this role? The answer to all three questions was ‘no.’
“When I reached the point where I was able to see that clearly, it didn’t require any hashing out beyond that. It really just became a matter of determining what was the best way to move forward with the least damage to the program. To make a clean break with the program was the right thing to do, and there no longer appeared to be any hope of significantly improving the situation.”
“To those people who did support us while I was here, thank you. I’m proud of what we accomplished here last season, and I’m proud of my own contributions,” said Coach Kosek. “I will continue promoting wrestling, through my Wisconsin Wrestling Digest and other avenues.”
